A heartwarming story emerged from a Russian wildlife park when a German Shepherd stepped up to become foster mother to two lion cubs. The cubs were born to a first-time lioness mother, Sirona, who began exhibiting abnormal behavior towards her cubs, prompting staff at White Lion Park in Vladivostok to remove them for their own safety. Sandra, the German Shepherd, took on the role of caregiver and welcomed the lions into her home as if they were her own puppies. The park director was surprised by this unusual interspecies situation and noted that although it cannot last forever, it is heartening to see how well Sandra cared for the lion cubs who were in desperate need of a nurturing mother.
