It may seem like an unlikely friendship, but for a tiny chihuahua named Digby, having a best friend who is 120 times his size is actually quite comforting. Digby was left abandoned on the street near some bins when he was only a little over a month old and weighed less than a pound. He was in danger of freezing to death when the RSPCA rescued him and brought him to their Southridge center in Hertfordshire. It was there that he met Nero, a 9-stone mastiff, and the two became inseparable. Despite their size difference, they have formed an unlikely bond that brings comfort to both of them.
A new unlikely friendship has formed between a tiny chihuahua named Digby and his best friend Nero, a massive 9st mastiff who is 120 times the size of Digby. The RSPCA rescued Digby and brought him to a center in Hertfordshire where the two dogs quickly became inseparable. According to center manager Anna White, it seemed like Digby had taken Nero on as his personal protector. Digby was found severely dehydrated and frightened between two bins in North London last week, but with Nero’s reassuring presence and daily intake of pet food that exceeds Digby’s weight, he quickly regained his strength. Natalie Ditchfield, an RSPCA animal collection officer, expressed how wonderful it is to see Digby safe and content in his new home with his new pal.
The heartwarming account of Digby’s journey is one of love and resilience. Discovered in a dire state, dehydrated and fearful between two bins at a block of flats in North London, Digby was given a second chance at life when he was taken in by the RSPCA. Despite his small size, he proved to be a fighter and was able to bounce back with the help of his new friend Nero. As soon as Digby met Nero, he seemed to come out of his shell and began to thrive. The RSPCA is now seeking information on his owner but if none comes forward, Digby will soon be looking for a new forever home.
