The authorities contacted the Licking County Humane Society for help, and to their surprise, it turned out to be a significant rescue operation. However, the volunteers did not hesitate to provide the dogs with all the necessary care they needed before they could be placed in their permanent homes.
In July 2022, the probation officers in Ohio called upon the Licking County Humane Society to rescue dogs found in a run-down house during their routine check on a wrongdoer. The rescue team was shocked to find around 80 dogs and puppies instead of the estimated 30, all living in deplorable conditions. Elycia Taylor, the director of the organization, mentioned that the rescue operation took around five hours to complete as they searched the entire mansion. While some dogs were found to be in good health, others were in a worrying state. The group is working tirelessly to restore each pooch to a normal physical condition and eventually find them loving homes. The veterinarians and volunteers are providing the necessary care, which includes giving the dogs a therapeutic bath to rid them of fleas.
Furthermore, these adorable creatures have received their necessary vaccinations, undergone sterilization procedures, and have been properly identified. Experienced dog trainers have also evaluated their behavior to ensure that they are matched with compatible families.
“This marks the start of a journey for these furry friends – one that is full of love, care, attention, and security,” expressed the animal shelter, which has reached out to their community for financial support. So far, they have raised close to 8,000 euros.
The dogs and their puppies have been placed in temporary foster homes, while some have been transferred to partner shelters. A few of the dogs are already up for adoption, waiting for their forever homes.
