It’s common for animal shelters to quickly place puppies in loving homes, but the same cannot be said for older dogs like Kane. Kane is a Pitbull searching for his forever home, but it’s been a bit of a challenge.
In the United States, animal shelters receive over 3.1 million dogs annually. Unfortunately, only 2 million of them are fortunate enough to be adopted and find new homes, leaving around 1.1 million dogs behind. The situation is even harder for older or larger dogs, and breeds like Pitbulls often face the most challenges due to unfair bias from irresponsible owners. A prime example is Kane, an 18-year-old Pittie who arrived at a shelter with very little hope of finding a new family.
Being an elderly dog, he needed a family that could take good care of his medical requirements. One of his eyes was sightless, while the other had weak vision, in addition to severe arthritis. Despite all of this, this dog with a big heart deserved a warm home filled with love and affection, even though his medical expenses were mounting and he was aging. Carole Sandy, his foster mom, spoke highly of him as a fantastic companion, who was very genial and laid-back.
