Petey, the furry friend who stole the hearts of his rescuers with his heartwarming smile, finally got a second chance at life after being ignored for an extended period. The adorable pup was brought to the SPCA Wake in October from a high-intake shelter in North Carolina where potential adopters overlooked him repeatedly. Despite being just a year old, Petey ended up becoming the longest resident of the county shelter. The SPCA of Wake County decided to intervene and help Petey find a new loving family, and recently shared an update on his adoption status.

SPCA Wake posted a picture of an adorable pet in search of a loving family. After a few weeks, a family saw the picture and instantly fell in love with him. The new owners shared some lovely snaps of their furry friend cuddling with them and playing with his new sibling. One photo showed Petey all curled up on a comfortable blanket, looking very happy and content.
