After being neglected for almost a decade, a dog that was deserted and forced to endure pain now has an opportunity to live the rest of its life in comfort.

Pheenie, a sweet nickname given to Josephine, was left stranded and defenseless when her owner was deported. She had no choice but to seek refuge behind a shipping container in a scrapyard, where she had to endure extreme weather conditions without adequate shelter. Surviving only on scraps and leftovers from generous locals, Pheenie remained there for nine long years until her fate finally caught up with her.

As Pheenie grew older, her health began to decline as a result of prolonged neglect and stress. She was involved in a truck accident that caused her to lose her right eye, and she also developed a spinal cord infection. Her dental health suffered due to neglect, and she had to deal with both a urinary tract infection and painful breast tumors.

This movie is a heartwarming tale of the Hope For Paws volunteers who set out to rescue Pheenie from her lonesome existence. Despite facing obstacles during their mission, the volunteers successfully reached Pheenie and brought her the help she needed, even though she was in her older age. The relief and happiness Pheenie showed upon being rescued was evident as she embraced her rescuers with gratitude, wearing a look of surrender on her face.

Pheenie was given a permanent home in a foster program that provided her with the medical care she needed. She spent five months living happily and comfortably on a spacious farm before passing away from old age. Despite her past struggles and loneliness, Pheenie was showered with love during her last days. Let us hope she finds eternal peace.
