Introducing Lasagna, a charming 5-year-old feline who has gained quite the following on the web due to her adorable appearance and pleasantly plump figure. Unfortunately, Lasagna was abandoned in Hunting Park, close to the ACCT Philly shelter in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the time of her rescue, she weighed in at a whopping 13.15 kilograms, which is equivalent to the weight of a toddler or even a small pit bull dog.
Lasagna’s origin story remains a mystery, but it’s widely believed that her substantial size is a result of overeating and not getting enough physical activity. The shelter staff bestowed upon her the name Lasagna, in tribute to Garfield’s beloved food of choice as depicted in Jim Davis’ comic strips.
According to the shelter, Lasagna is an affectionate and self-assured feline who loves getting her tummy rubbed. However, her weight is almost four times above the recommended limit, which could cause potential health issues, such as diabetes and heart disease. Therefore, right after taking her in, the shelter placed Lasagna on a unique meal plan aimed at controlling her weight and improving her overall fitness.
Due to her size, she requires assistance with grooming. Therefore, any potential adopter would need to be willing to aid in her journey towards improved health and well-being.
The images and footage of Lasagna were quickly disseminated across ACCT Philly’s social media pages, with the aim of finding a potential adopter or fosterer. These posts gained significant traction, receiving numerous likes and views as they became increasingly popular.
Lasagna was soon adopted by a wonderful family, not long after. The Hammer family from New Jersey will provide her with love and care while helping her shed those extra pounds. It’s great to know that Lasagna has finally found a forever home with attentive owners who will prioritize her happiness and wellbeing. We’re thrilled to see her on the path to a healthier life, thanks to her new family’s support.
