As we age, we tend to develop a certain level of wisdom that can leave younger people confused about our thoughts and actions. However, we should respect the fact that our life experiences have taught us valuable lessons that we can continue to learn from. While unexpected events can often catch us off guard, some are simply too incredible not to share. For instance, on May 22nd, a family in Valrico, Florida was graced with the presence of an elderly male cat who wandered right through their front door!
Upon entering the home of a dedicated cat rescuer, this senior feline should have been quite knowledgeable! Andrea Budkis Christian is a foster for St. Francis Society Animal Rescue, and her fosters are well-known. Did this astute old cat recognize that Andrea was the catalyst for a fresh start? And where did he come from? Because of her TNVR (Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Return) efforts, she is quite familiar with the cats in her area. However, this elderly gentleman was a newcomer and appeared to be quite intelligent!
With a nonchalant air, the feline casually sauntered into the house next door, as if he had frequented it before. Although visibly thin and advanced in age, there were no apparent external injuries on him. Alarmed by his condition, the concerned homeowner wasted no time in booking him an appointment with her trusted veterinarian for the following day. The goal was to assess his internal health and check for a microchip to determine if he had an owner.
Amidst all the chaos that followed after Bob entered their lives, there was one important detail that they overlooked – Bob was deaf and couldn’t hear anything. Andrea had shared a picture of Bob on the St. Francis foster page and it didn’t take long for someone to recognize him. Tabatha Norton, Logan the Werewolf Cat’s mother, was quick to point out that she had seen Bob before. Working in rescue, she came across countless cats and their pictures every day, which made it all the more surprising that she recognized Bob so easily.
Tyrone had a stroke of luck when he was rescued and quickly adopted. However, his hearing issues were not addressed at the time. This adorable elderly cat is neutered and has a heart murmur and dental problems. Fortunately, he does not have any FeLV/FIV infections, but he does suffer from hair loss and rashes. Tyrone is ready for his new home, so if you are interested in giving him a loving forever home, please contact us as soon as possible.
Bob left the shelter with a new family, but he looked like a bag of bones due to his physical condition. Andrea and the vet found out about Bob’s microchip and called the number listed. They were nervous about what they might hear since Bob’s previous owners had a history of abandoning him and not updating his information. However, they were able to contact Bob’s new owner who assured them that she had not thrown him out.
It appears that Bob, a cat who was recently adopted from the Pet Resource Center, may be deaf and has a tendency to wander off. He was taken in by a kind-hearted young woman who saved his life, but unfortunately, she was not informed of his need for additional medical treatment. This information was not provided to her when she picked him up, which is why he was not receiving the necessary care. Additionally, it is not recommended for a deaf cat like Bob to spend a lot of time outside.
Bob’s new mother showed immense courage and empathy when she surrendered him to St. Francis Society Animal Rescue. She wanted nothing but the best for the little guy and hoped that he would find a loving and safe home. With a heavy heart and tears in her eyes, the young woman bid farewell to Bob, knowing that he was in good hands. Bob will now stay with a wonderful foster family and an adorable cat that everyone loves!
Logan, the werewolf cat, is currently living with another older male cat who was rescued from the streets. Landlord Bob recently visited Logan’s foster home along with some other kittens that Logan is taking care of. Bob needs to gain weight as he is quite thin, but he is very friendly, communicative, and kind. One of his favorite pastimes is sitting by the window and watching the trees sway and the birds fly by. Would you be willing to provide a loving forever home for this senior cat? If so, please contact [email protected] for more information.
Bob is one of those individuals that fate seems to bless during life’s most trying times. Based on the information we have about his past, it’s safe to say that fate was long overdue in showing him some kindness. Fortunately, Bob had the wisdom to enter through the correct door.
