One night, we received news of a puppy in Santa Barbara that was struggling with a sizable tumor on its back. Upon arrival, it was evident that the poor pup was severely malnourished and infested with ticks. The growth had zapped all its energy, leading to physical weakness and exhaustion. Nevertheless, despite the seemingly hopeless situation, the pup’s eyes still glimmered with optimism. We decided to take the puppy, whom we later named Quasito, into our care at once. Our first order of business was treating him for ticks and providing him with daily vitamins and food three times a day. Given his frail condition, we’re prioritizing his recovery before scheduling surgery to remove the tumor. Thankfully, Quasito is making steady progress with each passing day.
Our priority is to have Quasito undergo surgery as soon as possible. Although we’re worried, we’re relieved that his health condition is fit for the procedure. Quasito’s positive attitude and robust appetite give us confidence that he’ll recover successfully. To our relief, during the vet visit, we found out that the tumor is only on the surface and not affecting any vital organs. The vet is conducting some tests to ensure a smooth operation tomorrow.
We’re glad to share that Quasito’s surgery was successful, and the 10-pound tumor was removed without any complications. He woke up from anesthesia and seemed to be in good spirits. We’re making sure to take care of his wound to prevent any infection, and every day, he’s looking better. We brought him back home, and it’s heartwarming to see his lively spirit shining through. Quasito is almost back to being his old self, and every day he’s getting better.
Over a period of time, Quasito has gained some weight and his wound has healed completely. We are taking care of his hemoglobin levels and every day is a step towards his betterment. His heart that was once filled with sadness is now brimming with love and gratitude. We have welcomed Quasito into our home permanently. Check out the video below:
