A family’s vacation took a turn for the worse when their partially blind Siamese cat, named Maisie, went missing in the rain while they were in Los Angeles. The pet sitter called and urged them to return immediately since coyotes and heavy traffic could pose a serious threat to the cat who had never been outside alone before. The family had to cut their vacation short and return to search for Maisie. Fortunately, the entire search and reunion process were captured on camera by comedian Zane Lamprey and his wife, Mel Lamprey, a famous rescuer. They only shared the story after ensuring that there was a happy ending.
Zane has a strong affection for cats, and he’s excited to give kittens to everyone who attends his upcoming shows. All you need to do is buy a ticket at zanelamprey.com and adopt a kitten, puppy, or senior pet from a local shelter. Then, come to the show, have a craft beer, and enjoy Zane’s stand-up comedy. The best part is that you’ll go home with a furry friend who will love you unconditionally.
On their way to Lake Tahoe, Maisie’s family stopped to bring Frankie, a rescued kitty, to her new home. However, their vacation took a distressing turn when they received a call from their pet sitter informing them that Maisie was missing. Maisie is mostly blind and has never been outdoors before, so her absence was particularly worrisome. The family cut their trip short and drove home in the middle of the night to search for Maisie. They eventually found evidence that she had climbed out through a loose screen and slid down the tin roof, but she wasn’t responding to their calls.
Maisie’s Rooftop Escape and Neighborhood Search
When Maisie climbed up on the roof and couldn’t find her way down, her family knew they had to act fast. Searching for a lost pet can be daunting, but they decided to use the power of social media and good old-fashioned legwork to canvass the neighborhood.
Their efforts paid off as they met many friendly neighbors who were eager to help. They spread the word on social media and went door-to-door asking if anyone had seen their beloved cat. They even set up camp outside and left treats in the hopes that Maisie would come back to them.
Although they didn’t find Maisie, their furry friend was not alone. A cute little squirrel was eager to receive treats from the kind-hearted family.
Zane had a little squirrel named Notch resting on his lap. They were worried about Maisie, their beloved cat who had gone missing. They knew that if a few more days passed, the chances of her wandering too far away would increase. The family decided to take action immediately and began searching for her by visiting every neighbor’s house and walking for miles. Zane even asked permission to check crawlspaces where she could have hidden. Though someone claimed to have spotted Maisie, she remained elusive and hadn’t come out even for her favorite food left in her familiar cat tent.
After enduring four terrible days of searching, there was finally a glimmer of hope for Maisie and her family. Workers constructing a new home nearby happened to spot Maisie and quickly sprang into action. They managed to corner her under a nearby house, and after consulting a missing flyer, they got in touch with Maisie’s owners immediately. Mel and Zane rushed to the site, but were hesitant as they had received multiple false leads before. However, this time, their instincts proved right, and they were overjoyed to discover that this lead was the real deal! The relief and happiness of reuniting with their beloved Maisie was indescribable. A video of the happy reunion was shared on Instagram by Zane Lamprey. In it, we can see the tent and food left behind for Maisie, which ultimately helped lead to her rescue.
Mel Lamprey was handed a light by the guys and asked to look under the crawlspace. Upon looking, Mel was stunned and almost fainted. She screamed, fell to the ground, and cried upon realizing that it was her cat Maisie. Despite being frightened, wet, and dirty, Maisie was alive. The guys cheered as Mel calmed herself before coaxing Maisie out of the crawlspace. After about 15 minutes of talking, Maisie eventually came to Mel, who then handed her over to Zane. They ran to the house crying and checked Maisie over. Fortunately, she was unharmed, but very scared. Mel expressed an indescribable feeling of gratitude, relief, joy, and luck. Maisie is now safely back home where she belongs, and there is so much to be happy about!
