The ultimate cozy experience is having a furry feline friend nestled in your lap while you indulge in a good book. And what could be more perfect than a bookstore that offers both? Otis Clementine’s Books and Coffee, located in Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia, Canada, has partnered with South Paw Conservation Nova Scotia to provide shelter cats with the opportunity to find forever homes while also offering their customers delightful reading companionship. This dream bookstore truly embodies the magical combination of cats and books.
The bookshop offers a unique service of sheltering rescue kittens within its premises, and assists in finding them their permanent homes. These adorable little felines are granted the freedom to wander around the store at their leisure, often found taking cat naps on bookshelves or snuggling with each other on cozy chairs.
The kittens residing in the bookshop have had the chance to interact with many prospective owners, and it has turned out to be a prosperous venture. The bookshop has seen over 30 feline adoptions, and presently boasts a 100% adoption accomplishment rate.
During an interview with Narcity, Ellen Hemke, the proprietor of the bookstore, stated that the kittens are adopted at a fast pace and never stay for long periods.
If you’re interested in taking home one of our adorable kittens, there’s a reasonable adoption fee of 255 Canadian dollars (around 195 American dollars) which includes all their medical expenses. However, before adopting, we require references from you to ensure that these lovable felines will find a safe and loving home.
South Paw Conservation Nova Scotia recently spoke to Bored Panda about their collaboration with Otis Clementine’s Books and Coffee. They expressed their excitement for the partnership and shared their hopes that it will bring attention to their cause. They aim to use this opportunity to raise awareness and funds so that they can continue providing cats with the care they need, including medical attention, food, and spaying/neutering services. Ultimately, their goal is to find loving homes for as many cats as possible.
It brings us joy to see the success of this wonderful endeavor and the number of kittens finding their forever homes through this innovative collaboration. Our wish is for more bookstores to emulate Otis Clementine’s initiative and make a positive impact on the lives of more kittens in need. It would be an ideal scenario to walk out of a bookstore with a new book in one hand and a beloved furry friend in the other.
