Assistance dogs can have a tremendous impact on people who require them. Apart from providing love and companionship, they are capable of learning crucial tasks that their owners may not be able to complete on their own.
The bond between a service dog and their owner is truly special, as one heartwarming story shows. A little girl named Memphis Rose recently met her future service puppy, and the two hit it off right away. Unfortunately, Memphis had been through a traumatic experience – she was involved in a serious car accident that took the life of her uncle. While Memphis survived, she suffered serious injuries that left her unable to move due to damage to her spine, neck, and perforated lung. Despite this, her sweet spirit shone through as she connected with her new furry friend.
Gayrene Meade, Memphis Rose’s mother, shared with People that her daughter’s spinal injury may not be curable and the likelihood of paralysis is high. Memphis Rose has undergone surgeries at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is currently in the process of slow but steady recovery. In spite of all the hardships she has faced, Memphis Rose found a glimmer of hope when she met Juliet, her soon-to-be service dog.
Lori Griffith, who founded the Chasin a Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps children suffering from life-threatening conditions, discovered the story of Memphis Rose. She got in touch with Furry Friends, an animal sanctuary located in the region. They had been taking care of Juliet, a young golden retriever puppy. The plan was to train Juliet as a service dog for a soldier. However, the experts determined that Juliet would be the perfect service dog for Memphis Rose.
The little girl proved to be an ideal candidate for a service animal. Moreover, she loves dogs and has always hoped for a puppy. Her ultimate dream is to become a veterinarian in the future.
Juliet is currently undergoing some training, but she got a chance to meet her potential owner and visit Memphis Rose at the hospital. The initial meeting was fantastic, and the two hit it off immediately. According to Gayrene, the prospective owner beamed with happiness upon learning that Juliet was being trained as her service dog. It was a nice experience for Gayrene, who had been going through a tough time. Juliet’s trainer, Summit Earhart, believes that Juliet was meant to be a service dog for Memphis Rose.
Juliet and Memphis Rose have met a few times after their initial meeting, and they are both excited to see each other again. However, Juliet is currently occupied with preparations for her new job. Once certified as a service dog, she will be able to perform tasks like turning the lights on and off, tucking Memphis into bed, and alerting her mother in case of a medical emergency.
According to Earhart, they want to expose Juliet to various situations to ensure that she is prepared for any scenario. Although they cannot cover everything, they hope that Juliet’s exposure to different experiences will help her remain calm and collected in any situation.
Memphis Rose is thrilled that Juliet is doing well, and Earhart feels grateful to have made a difference in the child’s life. The impact of a service animal can be remarkable, as demonstrated by how much easier Juliet’s life will be with an intelligent puppy like Juliet by her side. Despite struggling since the accident, Memphis Rose’s life is about to get a whole lot better thanks to Juliet’s assistance.
