A group of renters stumbled upon a cute orange tabby and her adorable kittens in an unoccupied rental flat. After reaching out to Langebaan Animal Care in South Africa for assistance, they discovered that the little ones weren’t able to be saved. The mother cat, Kathryn, was then taken in by the chairperson of Langebaan Animal Care, Izelle Marallich. Since then, Kathryn has been in search of a new loving family to call her own.

Marallich, who rescued a darling cat named Kathryn, shared that the feline was incredibly loving and brave. Despite being around other dogs in foster care, Kathryn fearlessly approached them and showed them affection by rubbing against them. She also had a strong need for human contact and would hold onto her caregiver while sleeping. Unfortunately, even with the rescuers providing comfort and care, Kathryn still felt the sadness of her past and would cry for her lost kittens, leaving those around her heartbroken.

Ever since a group of little pups found their way into their home, everything changed for Kathryn. The puppies quickly won her heart over, and she developed a deep connection with them. Whenever they needed food or attention, Kathryn was always there to comfort them with gentle licks.
“At first, the pups were a little unsure and would move away from her, but Kathryn persisted and continued to groom them,” Marallich shared. “Over time, the puppies grew used to her affection and would snuggle up next to her. She never left their side.”

Upon encountering the parentless young canines, Kathryn’s maternal instincts were triggered and she devoted herself entirely to their care. She provided for their needs, including grooming and sleeping with them, as if they were her own offspring. The bond that formed between Kathryn and the puppies was swift and unbreakable. According to Marallich, her owner, Kathryn became placid and contented once she had the puppies to care for. She even consumed the same puppy food as the little ones and appeared overjoyed to do so. Kathryn proved very possessive of her charges and would become agitated whenever they strayed too far from her enclosure. She would follow them, calling out to them until they returned to her side.

Marallich praised Kathryn’s unwavering commitment and affection as a mother to her puppies, who she never left alone throughout the day and night. Once the puppies were adopted into their permanent homes, Kathryn took in two abandoned kittens found in a nearby field, providing them with a caring and nurturing environment. Although many are interested in adopting Kathryn, she will remain with her current family for now, continuing to be a devoted caretaker for orphaned animals.
