The pouring rain did not deter Jennifer Lopez from demonstrating her endorsement for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at a crowded free concert in Miami’s Bayfront Park on Saturday evening.
“We are on the verge of having our first female president. Amazing!” exclaimed Lopez.
The concert kicked off with the Cuban duo Gente De Zona, who got the party started by performing “Bailando,” “Algo Contigo,” and their hit song “Gozadera,” with a surprise guest appearance by Marc Anthony to join in on the fun.
Anthony’s role was limited to introducing Lopez’s performance. “Tonight will be unforgettable. I am here to show my support for a woman who I trust with my children and my life,” said Anthony, emphasizing his pride in being Latino and the importance of voting in the upcoming elections.
Lopez took the stage in a striking white and red outfit adorned with a belt that resembled the American flag. Her setlist included hits like “Waiting for Tonight,” “Get Right,” “Love Makes the World Round,” and “Let’s Get Loud.” Before wrapping up her performance, Lopez voiced her support for Hillary Clinton, stating, “We need to choose the right path for the future, and we have the perfect leader to guide us.”
Clinton later joined Lopez on stage to express her gratitude for their endorsement. She didn’t hesitate to criticize Trump, declaring, “Donald is out there spreading fear.”
Throughout the one-hour show, videos featuring speeches by influential figures like John F. Kennedy, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton were played, focusing on themes of the Latino community and women’s rights.
